50th Anniversary - Founded in 1958
President’s BLAST - 7/28/2010
Hello Everyone.
I hope all is well with you.
We welcome our new members Jeannie Hageman, Carolyn Elliott, Smokey Sutherland, Elaine Butz, Jeani Burwell. We look forward to seeing you and having you participate with us. A Renewal Letter will be going our with this email, and I hope you will download it and send in your dues for next year soon. Dues are due September 1, delinquent September 15 and if not paid by October 1, we will assume you have elected not to rejoin, and you will be removed from the roster. We enjoy having each and every one of you as a club member so please get your dues in by September 1st. I am certain that there will be a great many of you will be happy with our latest news. After a great deal of discussion at our recent board meeting, and many others for that matter, it has been decided to reinstate the gross payouts for the one day and major mixed tournaments. This is effective with our next, August, tournament which is a two day tournament. I am attaching the flyer for this tournament. - We now have two wonderful members who has stepped up to chair the Aug 2010 Mixed - Linda Wade & Linda Eves. I thank you Linda & Linda. - The fliers are also in the club room for you to pick up if that is easier or you can't open it here. Next we have to get ready for the Swing for the Cure tournament in October. We hope that all of you consider participating in this tournament. Christie Wright is stepping up to do some of the work and so is Mary Ann O'Connor. Their assistance does not cover everything though so anyone who wants to help on the committee to get this tournament done there is plenty to do. We need someone to sell mulligans and magic putts, raffle tickets, get some raffle prizes for us, do some other basic setup. Please let me know if you can participate with helping. WE ARE IN THE MIDST OF CREATING OUR BOARD FOR NEXT YEAR. THERE ARE A FEW POSITIONS THAT NEED HELP. PLEASE DO NOT STOP READING NOW. YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU. NEW MEMBERS, HERE IS YOUR CHANCE TO MEET SOME NEW FRIENDS. First of all I want you to know that there is a handbook for every position and, if you take on the position you will not be left without support from this year's board member. I thank new member, Mary Ann Nicolletti for moving into our secretary slot for next year. She will be a great asset to our board.
Here we go. As of today, Wednesday 7/28/10, the following
positions are open:
Special Projects:
Be there when it is necessary to form decision making
committee's, various other projects that come up through the year.
Historian
(possibly):
Take pictures or makes sure pictures are taken at our key
events and functions during the year. Makes a year end
scrapbook presented to the President at the end of the year
to be kept in our Club
Room for all to see.
Major Mixed Tournaments:
These are weekend events and take place only 4 times a year.
You can create committees for each one if you like. You will
have plenty of help. If you already participate in this even
it would be great if you could find the time to run at least
one of them this year.
One Day Mixed:
This event is held 8 times a year, but you will really
only be doing 7. It is always on a weekend. Again, if you
participate in this even I hope you can find the time to run
at least one or two this year.
Ringer:
This is a great position for
someone living in or close to Coronado Golf Course. Our ringer mom, who has
done it for many years, will show you the ropes. This is a great way to help
the club.
Team
Captain:
This only requires a few months of your time. If you
play in team or want to and have the time to help out,
please call me.
Webmaster:
We
are in the process of redesigning our website and
making is user friendly. This is your chance to
really get in there and make it yours. Carrie will
help in the turnover if you need it, but if you ever
wanted to try
your hand at this or have experience in this,[please
step us and help out.
There are
some advantages to being a board member. You can always be
heard. You also get a priority spot in our Member Guest
Tournament. Besides the great satisfaction of giving back to
a club and tries very hard to make your golfing experience a
good one.
Remember all the positions have handbooks with clear instructions on how to do the job. I think that about sums it up for this time. I hope you continue to enjoy your summer, even if the sun is on vacation. We still live in paradise and enjoy playing at one of the most beautiful courses in the county. See you soon!
